One of golf's most dominant players during the late 1940s and early 1950s, Ben Hogan learned the game while working as a caddy at age 11. He turned professional at age 19, and between 1946 and 1953 he won four U.S. Opens, two Masters, two PGA titles, and the British Open. In 1949 he was involved in a near-fatal automobile accident, but he recovered to win the U.S. Open in 1950.
